To Rochester Park for lunch. That’s our plan or rather our motivation to hop onto the bike. After my vendor bought me to this Southwestern/Mexican restaurant, I decided to ‘jio’ the gang to Ayer Rajah to try out the food there.

Things turned out quite dramatic though. When we reached Holland V, LCT received a call from Michelle that she was still stuck at Bishan with Kate and Derek. Her newly purchased 2nd hand bike was a goner. She did not know how to use the reverse XT shifter and hence cranked up her rear derailleur 180 degree toward 12 o’ clock position, causing her RD hangar to bend as a result. With many phone calls between LCT and the bike mechanic, Michelle had to take the risk of them bending the hangar and RD successfully or buy a new frame.

Pek Gnee and Kenneth decided to head down to the restaurant first while LCT and I waited along Holland Rd for the gang. After a long wait, we saw Derek leading the pack, followed by Kate and Val. Parking at the side of the main road, Derek elaborate the horror story to LCT. “Can we go to the restaurant then talk?!” On the way there, we saw a Michelle inside a cab waving at us. Reached the restaurant with Kenneth welcoming us.

Everyone started pouring ‘cold water’ on Michelle how on earth could she cranked her RD into such state. And of cos’ laughing at her plight. Fancy being so happy to collect her bike in the morning and announcing to all of us on the arrival of the bike, in less than one minute, she destroyed it all!

A massive turn out, just for food!

I was quite glad they like the food there. Strongly recommend this restaurant called North Border at 1 Rochester Park. I love their steak and gumbo soup the best. The ambience was nice and foresty as well. The peaceful place was broken by our rowdy behaviour though. :p

Juicy steak. I like!

See, we truly practice what we preach. Ride to Eat and Eat to Ride. :)

We decided to head down to Tay Junction to collect Michelle’s bike. When we arrived, the mechanic managed to get it done successfully. Good news to her, no need to buy new frame. Bad news to her as well, she spent a couple of hundreds for a XT RD and chain. Good news for me as I found a very discounted last piece of Sidi Bullet shoes at a very good price. Wahaha. Finally can strike that off my wishlist. The rest of the afternoon was spent teaching Michelle how to use her new shifter and fork.

Mental note to myself – Pump up the fork suspension! Didn’t know it impact a lot on the ride when the fork is not pump to the max.
