========================================

It’s almost 3 weeks since I came back from Tioman. And I’m not blogging much here. The Tioman island was a letdown. Ok, I shouldn’t put hopes of finding a paradise at a place where resort industry is blooming. The trip had a lot of hiccups even at planning stage. The trip’s nearly cancelled as we couldn’t find accommodation. But thanks to Mich as the wonderful organizer, everything pulled thru’ at the last min. So todate, it was a huge group turnout of 18 pax!

Finally Kate and Derek was able to join us for an overseas trip. But we took our hats off this couple for when they reached the checkpoint, we found out that Derek took his son’s passport instead of Kate’s. The trip ended there for them both. The rest of us guys carried on to Mersing. Darn that road, it was so winding and bumpy, it was hard for us to get a decent shut-eye! Groggily, way past midnight, we reached Mesing and stayed at the D’view Hotel. I like it. It was very clean and neat. I was so tired that I didn’t even wanna bathe. Slept cosily till 5.30am.

We took the ferry from Mersing to Tioman. Probably they were showing Initial D and we were very engross with the movie, hence we reached Tioman island real soon. The sea color pissed me off. It’s much worst than Redang. The 4WD was fun nonetheless. It was a challenging terrain from the harbour to the Juara Beach Resort. But when we reached the resort, we were shocked. The resort owner tricked us and relocated us to a lousy kampong hut (somemore charging us almost resort price). The hut was like jailhouse! Not exactly the worst that I have stayed before but it was really bad and run-down. The only place we liked there was the café/bristro.

So the whole afternoon we slacked and play pictionary in the café. Only by late noon, then we decided to do some exercise. Went swimming with the group of hikers. The divers went for their dive. So leaving poor LCT alone on land. Haha. The water was murky, didn’t see much corals. Crystal and Jeron decided to canoe out to see more things. Since Val and I had nothing to do, we also rent the canoe and followed them out. Out to the sea, the water became clearer and we saw much nicer corals alive. The currents were strong and the passenger in the ferry that passed by urged us to return back to the bay. We didn’t. Instead we head to another bay. By then, the sun was bearing down on us. We headed to the nearer secluded bay, where we took a dip and rested. I was feeling seasick by then. Heading back to the resort area, it was almost 7pm. Time for dinner. Darn LCT left me locked outside in cold.

We went in search of a dinner place in the dark but after walking around in circle, we eventually went back to same café. Food I would say was nice, except that I couldn’t stomach any zi-char after my last food poisoning.

Woke up late as I was shagged from the previous day canoeing. Went to look for them at the Café and we played pictionary again. Eugene had to draw out brunette for the guys Joey and LCT. But his drawing was so bad that Joey thought it was a witch and LCT exclaimed “Pontianak”! That was the joke for the day.

It was R & R again till the ferry came. Turned out the ferry was late for a 3.30pm time. When we board the ferry, it was better than the one we arrived on, though no good movie screening. Happily dip in our comfort when we realized that after 2 hours, we were still at Tioman. The ferry was circling the whole island. So after 4 hours, we finally reach mainland at Tanjung Gemok. The lads were all freaking hungry that they filled up their tummy in the Chinese restaurant outside the harbour.

Going back in full tummy was a bad experience. Our East van people all gave up watching the movie shortly because everyone had motion sickness.

i know that a new season unfolds here ... at 3:50 p.m.
fate must have been crumbled before and after here
